Thanks to Mike, Alvin, Brian & Buz, my studio equipment that's been in storage since 2006 is finally here.  Found my oil paints, life-size figure metal armature and so much more that I'd almost forgotten about.  Now, to actually organize everything and store it all properly.  Which is why I’ve been up and working since 5 AM – only for the art at this stage in life!

Our royalty here in the US have always been sports and entertainment personalities, so when you lose three in one week it does affect us and we are very aware of the loss.

On a lighter note, I loved the talking dogs in “Up”.

While driving over the Ben Franklin Bridge on my return trip from NJ late last night, I noticed how much one of the newest tall buildings looked like a PEZ container without its “head”.  Which made it far more interesting than the boredom it actually added to the Philly skyline.  I remember when the first buildings that were taller than Billy Penn’s hat were built. They were all topped by some interesting architectural element that I thought added pizzazz to the then new skyline.  But this one is pure blah, except that seeing it for what isn’t there – the PEZ head – makes it funny, in this case, better than boring.

RELIEF!  The problem construction helper has entered an inpatient rehab program.  Although this delays completion of the project, it is worth the effort to find someone else.

STRESS!  Did I mention that there is an ongoing DIY construction project on my property?  It was started last summer and resumed a few weeks ago.  Unfortunately, the person most capable of helping to complete this project is an alcoholic, who has serious anger management problems.  I’ve asked that he no longer be allowed to work here, but have been ignored, since he’s a friend – but that’s another issue for another journal.  It’s nerve racking to get such negative vibes from this guy and to constantly worry that he’ll destroy more trees and outdoor furniture like last year.  One more obstacle to focusing on the art, that I can’t seem to get past.

It’s raining again!  After spending two summers in the southwest where water conservation was a way of life, I’m not sure that I should complain about all this rain.  The trees and shrubs are flourishing and it does make it easier to transplant whatever needs to be moved.  Also, the temperature is cooler and that makes it easier for me to work outside – between the downpours.

I know, I know – will I ever get back to the sculpture?  But the gardens started calling me and it didn’t take much to get me out there.  My days have become a series of diversions.

Saw STAR TREK last week – the digital version - on a wide screen at a large multiplex movie theater.  Since I was something of a “trekkie”, I liked it for its clever early character histories.  But my age is showing when I say that the action and sound needed to be dialed way back.  Why does it have to be geared for teenage boys, when they probably don’t have a clue about who these characters were in the original series?  We, who do appreciate the characters don’t need the noise.  Go - but bring earplugs!
